Blade forged in an artisanal low shaft furnace. The craftsman we collaborate with, Christian Moretti, extracts his own iron ore , that will then be enriched and reduced in the furnace he has developed. The « burr » thus obtained, a spongy piece of steel , will be refined, striked and forged by hand to give it its final form.
The blade will then be selectively tempered with clay, and traditionally polished with natural stone.
According to a famous Chinese saying, if we can estimate gold, jade is priceless. That saying perfectly shows the privileged place jade occupies in the Chinese culture. In the Far East symbolism, this stone was connected with the Emperor, synonymous with wealth and power. Jade was also seen as a sacred talisman, used by sovereigns to communicate with the Gods. Symbol of wisdom, harmony and peace, jade has been appreciated for a long time for its beauty and its traditional lucky charm nature.
It is even said that Confucius, Chinese philosopher, used to compare the softness of jade to caring, its hardness to righteousness, the diversity of its colours to spirit of initiative, and its translucency to loyalty.
