Norwegian birch wood

Birch wood, the Norwegian national symbol, is a temperate wood that belongs to the Betulaceae family.
It is an emblematic and sacred material for the Lapps. Its grain is finely interlaced and its patterns are delicate. The cracks in the wood are caused by the action of the frost when the sap rises in spring.
